This website was originally the idea of Police Pension Board Secretary Farris Hensley who believed creating a website would be a valuable asset to the Police Pension fund. He picked the domain name “littlerockpolicepensionnews” for the URL name of the website while I had wanted the URL name of “lrppn” to keep it simple. With either domain name, the opening page could say whatever we wanted it to say. Because Farris insisted on the lengthier name and was paying for the domain, I agreed.
Several months after putting the Blog up and trying to explain to Farris how it worked, Farris decided he did not have the time to manage it or the computer skills necessary to operate it. Because I agreed it was important to get the information out to our membership, I decided to run the Blog myself and Farris agreed that would be best.
It is my hope that all Pension Board members will decide to post articles and comments in this Blog for the general membership’s information; however, I cannot force anyone’s participation in this Blog. Instead, it is my plan to attend every meeting of the Pension Board to obtain information to post on this Blog for the benefit of our membership. I should mention that at least two Board members are already participating in this Blog and have been given “Author” status. They are Farris Hensley and Carl Harrod. I hope more will follow their lead.
Finally, I would like to remind the membership that this Blog is for YOU. It is not the property of the City, the Police Department, or even the Police Pension Board. It is YOUR Blog, at least, for as long as I can afford to operate it.
